The War of Art

A fairly new friend who is a creative type recommended this book to me and last night I was pushed to explore it...

Do you ever feel that push? A push to do something, to consider something, to act...that you often ignore because you're scared or uncertain? I have found that the push is usually the push in the right direction that I need to listen to...

And so, with that said, I went on Google Books this morning and explored the title The War of Art: Winning the Inner Creative Battle a bit more. It's a book by Steven Pressfield and so far, I find it very interesting.

Here is an excerpt from the Google book:

Like a magnetized needle floating on a surface of oil, Resistance will unfailingly point to true North-meaning that calling or action it most wants to stop us from doing.

We can use this. We can use it as a compass. We can navigate by Resistance, letting it guide us to that calling or action that we must follow before all others.

Rule of thumb: The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it.

I'm going to buy the book and will post a more thorough review after reading some/all of what Pressfield has to say. Why am I interested in this book?...well, there is a creative battle i've been fighting for months, years even, and i'm finally starting to do something about it and explore what this creative vision-screaming in the back of my head that both thrills and terrifies me- could mean for my life and my future. More to come.
