The True, Good, and Beautiful

An excerpt from a very good book recommended by my pastor. This quote is taken a bit out of its context, which to explain the context, it is the context of sexual love-, but I like it and want to draw it out.

"When we desire what is true, good, and beautiful, then we are free indeed-free to love, free to bless, which is the freedom from the compulsion to grasp and possess."-Christopher West Theology of the Body for Beginners: A Basic Introduction to Pope John Paul II's Sexual Revolution

We talk a lot at my work about promoting the "true, good and beautiful" and almost anyone who is working to bring "good things" into the culture will use this phrase. I am interested in what it means and understanding it more, and in understanding how to foster and harness it in my own life, instead of merely drawing on my own failing efforts to muster some idea of what it means to be truly human and live to the full. I want the real thing.

More to come...
