When a story touches your life...
A couple of weeks ago, I went to the screening of "Call & Response," where I heard the story of Emmanuel Jal. Since hearing his story, one of my roommates and I have been captivated by this man.
I recently posted an article from Paste featuring Jal in the midst of a long entry, but his story really deserves a post of its own. His story is a story of redemption and his message is powerful.
Jal was a child soldier for the Sudanese army and was rescued by a woman named Emma, who helped him start a new life. He started going to school, where he discerned a Christian worldview. This worldview enabled him to make sense of the pain and suffering that he went through, and move forward towards hope and freedom.
I am going to embed two videos, one a music video, and another an interview. This story has "touch[ed] my life" (just as he intended). I hope that it touches your life as well.
Sorry for the old National Geographic interview; it really was the best video that I could find. When "Call & Response" comes out in theaters, I recommend checking out the interview from that film.
